We had a great time at the cabin! It reminded me of the trip to Finland I took with my parents ten years ago: we had to make our own fire, bring water from the pump and were surrounded by a gorgeous damp forest (coming from dry California, you appreciate the latter much more! :) ). The view from the deck is breathtaking! You almost feel like you’re on some other planet, as the water is metal grey (because of the glaciers) and it’s so quiet. Would highly recommend to anyone!
We loved the cabin. Its was quiet and the view from the cabin was amazing. We are from Nevada and wanted to be able to see the Northern Lights...We did from the dock on the water. We will most definitely stay again and recommend to all our friends.
We were only able to spend two nights and it was so peaceful. While at the cabin we never saw another sole except for a float plane that flew low down the lake. I am not the type of person that can site in one spot very long, but we sat for hours in front of the blazing fire place on the porch enjoying the view. While sitting in front of the fireplace one night, we got to experience a 6.4 Alaska earth quake. After hiking to the top of Exit glacier and the Harding ice field on our second day we really wanted a shower. We checked out the sauna and bathed just like the old sourdoughs.
We have been to Europe, Costa Rica, the pacific and many other places around the world but none compared the picture perfect stay we had in Alaska. The cabin was handmade, super cozy with big windows where you would see the lake and mountain in front of you every morning. Cooking inthe fire grill with that scenery in the background was just unbelievable. Taking a bath in the sauna with no one around you it’s just something one of a kind.
I feel bad writing a good review about this place because I don’t want anyone else to know about it but this place is amazing. It’s completely isolated and although it has no electricity or plumbing, it was far from roughing it. Jan was great about getting us fresh water, we used the hot sauna and lake to bathe, and it was very convenient to Seward and hikes around the area. The fishing dock in front of the cabin was also pretty nice, if even just to sit and enjoy the view. Plus we got a visit from an eagle! It doesn’t get much more Alaska than this.
My family loved staying at this cabin! There is no electricity, running water or bathroom — but that made it interesting and fun. The cabin has many clever systems in place, such as a propane tank that is piped to a couple of propane lights and a burner for the kitchen. We were able to easily have light and cook, heat water, etc. I highly recommend this cabin!
